I don’t know if any of you are in the current dating scene. I did not envision dating at the age of 50, but, here I am. Years ago I was heard stating that I would NEVER participate in on-line dating. What is that saying…never say never? Here I am, age 50, participating in on-line dating.
Many people do not REALLY understand the life of a teacher. My own mother would tell you that she had absolutely no idea until she had a teacher in the family. As I navigate the dating world, I can tell you that many men have no idea what teaching is like.
I don’t have the job that begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:00. I have that job where I have to be at school at 7:30 to prepare for the IEP meeting at 7:50. I don’t have the job where I walk out the door with students at 3:15. I have that job where one of my students is held off of the bus because of safety concerns and I sit with her until 4:00 until a parent can pick her up. I don’t have the job that is done when you walk out of the school building. I have the job where you walk out of the school building with a laptop and many documents that will have to be worked on that evening or over the weekend. Some weeks are worse than others.
So, as I navigate the modern dating world, I have to find someone who is understanding and tolerant of the teacher lifestyle. Wish me luck!
Another teacher? Best wishes.

Hey you forgot to mention someone who can appreciate your eclectic taste in decorating and kitsch collecting! GOOD LUCK- although they’ll be the lucky one.

Thinking of you/wishing you luck as you search and hopefully find someone who really appreciates all that your “job” entails!

Good luck. I can’t even imagine dating and having another person outside the teaching profession understand.
