I have a love of vintage items. I have been particularly interested in vintage earrings for the last two years. I am ashamed to say that I have more earrings than Claire’s at this point.
Every few weeks I go to my local vintage store and buy a jar of random jewelry. The cost is usually between 10 and 15 dollars. When I have a quiet night at home, I open the jar and see what treasures are inside. The jar is filled with items the store owner considers expendable. There are MANY pairs of clip-on earrings that people just don’t wear anymore. Over the years I have taught myself how to convert clip-on earrings to pierced earrings. There is no one way to do this. It depends on the earring and the type of clip (screw back, lever back, clip). The result is fantastic, one-of-a-kind earrings.
There are always items that I can’t convert. The clip-ons I am not interested in go to my neighbor who still wears them. The solos and damaged pieces usually go to the Boys and Girls Club for craft fun. Other pieces go to friends and family– if I know they will like them. It is a therapeutic process for me.
So many cool earrings!!!! What a great hobby!

Beautiful! I saw the pink ones and immediately saw my mom in the 50s and 60s. I’m glad you are doing what makes you happy.

Looking back, I have always been drawn to vintage. I had a fascination with Mid-century design before I even knew what it was. Maybe I lived there in a previous life?
