When I travel, I let myself eat more foods that I would not normally eat in my day-to-day life. I went gluten-free about four years ago,and over time, I have become VERY sensitive to gluten. I try to steer away from those gluten-free complex carbohydrates because, they are like a drug to me.
Over the last two weekends I traveled to dance competitions with my daughter. Out of convenience, I packed several gluten-free snacks including donuts, chips, and popcorn. It was glorious but now it has to stop.
It is amazing how quickly my body learns to appreciate, crave, and even demand the complex carbohydrate fix. As I am sitting here typing this post, I consumed my chicken breast and five clementines for lunch. I am now trying to convince my body that it is not getting anything more, no matter how much it protests.
I am not sure how long it will take for my body to come to terms with the fact that I am not giving it complex carbohydrates with every meal. I gave in yesterday but, today I am holding strong!

I know EXACTLY how you feel, and that “addiction” you describe is a real thing. When we get those carbs-to-sugar, we really want MORE. Right now I’m going through a vegetarian-in-the-doldrums thing. (Thank goodness for clementines, right?!)

Food and eating habits are very difficult aspects of our life that are simply hard to deal with.
So many social pressures…I feel your pain.
I have been struggling to find the right way to eat for me. At times there are things that get me immediately bloated. Things that used to be totally fine before, like beer, now just a sip sets my system off.
I read somewhere that our digestive system changes about every ten years; so we need to pay attention to it.
Good luck with your journey!

Why do carbs have to be sooooo good?

Your willpower is amazing to me. I know a lot of people who this type of diet has helped, though. I hope it works out for you!

It was the alternator…again. The one they put in at Thanksgiving was apparently faulty. I did not have to pay for anything!

Ah, I wish you all the best with this. I have bread-blood that needs to be replenished every couple of hours.
*sigh* I think it’s time to give it up, once again..

I would love to go gluten free but not sure of the resources that are out there to learn about Gluten Free Products. Do you have any recommendations??

There are SO MANY gluten-free products out there. My grocery store has entire sections labeled for gluten-free. Packages are now identified as gluten-free on the front. You can even download and app to find gluten-free eating at restaurants when you travel. Talk to your grocery store and do a google search. I am sure you can find a ton.
